Ibe Myers Update
So our friend Ibe went down this summer (June 4th) when a minivan pulled out infront of him as he was on his way home from work in NC. For a while I was updating here about the events and his progress, but due to the lack of incouraging updates I was getting,I had stopped. But I would like to say that he is doing better. The following update is from the support page on fb that his friends in NC had set up:
The visit tonight was nice. Lots of hand holding and attempts to get him to play thumb war with me. His grip is super strong. His eyes were open the whole time that I was telling him about my day, about John and Belinda's wedding yesterday, the changes in the downtown area and all the people that have told me to say he...llo and send love and he just kept on listening. Played some tunes and even sang to him for a while. (Im not coming out with any albums anytime soon... and I tried to not completely irritate his neighbor, although I was a little shocked when he didnt ask me for my autograph when I left...) My friend Leslie suggested trying to get him to sing, this activates different aspects of the brain and promotes healing. After a while, we just sat quietly together, I thought this might give him a chance to talk if he wanted to. The nurses came in a few times to check on his food, hydration and cleanliness. The new bed should be in tomorrow. This should really help with bedsores and making him more comfortable all in all. Ibe's mom has been so wonderful and diligent making sure that he is getting the most efficient care and there have been days where she has had to really go to bat for him and she does it like a true champ. Ibe is lucky to have her and Michael watching over him and I am grateful for them as well. I am missing his laugh and cant wait to hear it again soon, maybe I should keep singing :) He did throw up an "I love you" hand jesture and uttered some words at one point that I had a hard time putting together. There's progress, albeit way to slow for my speed and I'm sure his pedal to the metal self as well, but we will take it. There are some really cool presents, thoughtful cards, art pieces, flags all in the room that friends and family members have brought or sent and he seems to gaze at them often. There is a small Christmas tree with lights on the TV that he can look at and his windows are dressed with perfectly tacky Snowmen and Santa's for the season. Please keep him and his family in your thoughts and prayers. Again, if you would like to visit, he is at Oak Forest off of Windy Hill Rd. I can never remember the number of his room but once you are there, you can ask any nurse and they will help you. All the best to you and yours, Cyndi

I'm very happy to hear the updates and glad that he is getting better, he is lucky to have good people around him and wish him a even faster recovery, thanks Scott for the update.
